Dell, Inc. (DELL) has produced a very nice return over the past 15 to 20 years.  Even more incredible when you consider Michael Dell started this business by selling computers out of his dorm room while attending college.  Between October 1995 and March 1999, Dell's stock split an unheard of 6 times (an average of more than once a year over this span).  As a result, a $5,000 investment in DELL at the beginning of 1990 would have resulted in over 80,000 shares and well over $1.2 million at the end of 2009.  However, more recent investments in Dell have performed absolutely awful with $5,000 invested in 2000 shrinking to just over $1,400.
