Xerox Corporation (XRX) at one time was considered one of the "big boys" and a solid blue chip pick, but times have changed.  Unfortunately, the past 30 years haven't been very kind to Xerox Corporation.  A $5,000 investment at the beginning of 1975 would have only grown to a little over $15,000 at the end of 2009.  In fact, every investment period in the Stock Performance Guide from 1995 and on has actually produced a negative return for Xerox.  In February 2001, Xerox quit paying a dividend and later restored a quarterly dividend at the end of 2007.
